Concert to discover the formation Chant et Piano with among others the magnificent cycle of Schumann: Dichterliebe.

Hugo Laporte
Baritone Hugo Laporte has won several competitions, including the Belvedere Competition in Austria and the OSM Competition in Canada. With more than 25 leading roles to his credit, he stands out in roles such as Figaro (The Barber of Seville), Marcello (La Bohème), and Escamillo (Carmen). He regularly collaborates with major Quebec operas, orchestras, ensembles and festivals. Internationally, he has performed in France, Italy, Germany, Russia, China and Belarus. On record, it can be heard in the Intégrale des mélodies pour voix et piano by Jules Massenet (ATMA Classique, 2022).

Jean-François Mailloux
Jean-François Mailloux holds a BA in Piano Performance and three Masters in Interpretation from the Faculty of Music at Université Laval (solo piano, piano accompaniment and classical singing), and is a collaborative pianist for singing classes, strings, brass and is a singing conductor for the Opera Stage Acting class at the FaMUL. He also works on multiple lyric projects with his accomplice Jean-Philippe Lavoie, with whom he has directed Productions Cont’opéra since September 2023, an organization whose mission is to introduce opera in a playful way through creations.

On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, the Cookshire-Eaton Cultural Space invites you to an exceptional concert highlighting the talent of French and Quebec composers through the centuries. Discover rich and inspiring melodies, including a work by the Quebec composer, Jeanne Landry.

Performed by soprano Catherine St-Arnaud, flutist Myriam Genest-Denis and pianist Julien LeBlanc, this concert will immerse you in a musical universe too often unknown but of striking beauty.

To mark the International Day of Women’s Rights, the Cookshire-Eaton Cultural Space will donate $5 per ticket sold to the organization La Passerelle du Haut-Saint-François whose mission is to provide a welcoming place, safe, caring and inclusive, aimed at defending and promoting the rights of individuals through an intersectional feminist approach.

This period of ascent towards Easter is certainly one of reflection and meditation. Many composers, including Bach and Buxtehude, have written for this liturgical season some formidable works of spiritual power and striking beauty.

On the programme, works by D. Buxtehude, J. C. Bach and the Cantata BWV 4 by J. S. Bach.
