Cantate du café – Baroque cabaret

The Boréades de Montréal premiered a first baroque cabaret with Bach and his hilarious profane work, the Cantate du café. Eight artists on stage, including the versatile and talented soprano Jacqueline Woodley,

Pallade Musica – French Baroque Music

Pallade Musica (Music of Athena) brings together some of the finest musicians on the Montreal Baroque scene. Co-directed by Tanya LaPerrière, violin, and Vincent Lauzer, recorder, the ensemble stands out for its expressive and elegant interpretations, which are grounded in research and exploration. Critics praise them for their “spectacular virtuosity” (Tom Strini Blog) and “formidable sense of ensemble” (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel). In addition to its annual Montreal season, the ensemble has toured extensively in the U.S., Colombia and Canada. Its members perform regularly with internationally renowned early music ensembles, while pursuing careers as soloists and teachers. Since its creation, the ensemble has won a number prestigious prizes, first in New York and then in Utrecht, Holland, and has been nominated for several Opus awards for its recordings on the ATMA label, as well as for its Montreal concerts.

Come and discover remarkable composers and women in the company of a quartet of dazzling young women: the pure soprano Ariadne Lih, Anne Thivierge on the baroque flute, Mylène Bélanger on the harpsichord and Andrea Stewart on the cello. They will transmit to us the great richness and expressiveness of another era through the compositions of Elisabeth Jacquet of La Guerre, Barbara Strozzi, and others. Not to be missed!
