This great musical fresco testifies to the glory of Venice the magnificent! Rarely presented in public, Vespers to the Virgin are both intimate and grandiose, pious and dramatic, spiritual and passionate.
Monteverdi is recognized as one of the great geniuses in music history. In addition to having contributed greatly to the birth of western opera, he has left us a corpus of lyrical works of exceptional beauty. His Vespers dedicated to the Virgin Mary are among his greatest achievements.
