Innue of the community of Pessamit and originally from the Saguenay, Elisabeth attaches great importance to sharing her culture through her mission as an artist. Elisabeth St-Gelais is an Aboriginal lyric artist who has won several First Prizes at major classical music competitions in Canada. Recipient of the 1st Prize and Audience Choice of the Canadian Opera Company Centrestage Competition in 2023, the prestigious First Prize of Europe 2023, the First Wirth Vocal Prize of McGill University in 2022, of the Grand Prix 19-30 years at the Canimex Canada Music Competition in 2022, she is named the same in the prestigious list #CBC30under30 2022 in addition to being Revelation Radio-Canada Classique 2023-2024.In January 2025 she is the winner of the Washington District at MET LAFFONT OPERA COMPETITION. She is one of the 32 candidates for the International Music Competition of Geneva VOIX in the summer of 2024. Elisabeth receives in December 2024 the 3rd prize of the prestigious Fondation Père Lindsay helping promising young artists in their international career development. Also involved in her Montreal musical community, the soprano is Vice-President of the board of directors of the Conseil Québécois de la Musique.
Elisabeth is an Indigenous artist committed to the reconciliation of Canada’s Indigenous peoples and a proud representative of the Innu of the North Shore, her nation. The soprano defends the cause of reconciliation among Canada’s First Nations, Métis and Inuit by including Aboriginal works in her repertoire and working closely with creators from the First Peoples of Canada and the United States.
His first EP «INFINI» released in 2024 under the label ATMA CLASSIQUE is available on all platforms and presents a varied choice of French melodies, warmly received by critics.
