Requiem de Fauré
Abbaye de Saint-Benoît-du-Lac, 1 rue Principale, Saint-Benoît-du-Lac
To commemorate the centenary of Gabriel Fauré’s death, L’Harmonie des saisons, soloists, choir and orchestra on period instruments will perform the composer’s magnificent Requiem. Fauré’s landmark work will be accompanied by the Cantique de Jean Racine and a Messe basse for women’s voices. For the occasion, a children’s choir will also join the ensemble!
Gabriel Fauré’s magnificent Requiem is distinguished by its intimate, nuanced expressiveness. L’Harmonie des saisons will reveal this masterpiece in the authentic manner of its 19th-century creation by Fauré himself. The work is rarely performed in its original “church” version of January 1888, with vocal forces and orchestra on period instruments adapted to this context.
The Cantique de Jean Racine is a composition by Gabriel Fauré to the text “Verbe égal au Très-Haut” by poet Jean Racine. It is one of Fauré’s earliest published pieces. He wrote it as a 19 year old student at the Ecole Niedermeyer de Paris, winning him the first prize in composition in 1865. The piece is an extraordinary example of the young composer’s unique talent.
The Messe basse pour voix de femmes has a most interesting history which charts the course of Fauré’s compositional career over a 25 year period. It was initially conceived in 1881 as collaboration with fellow composer André Messager, in which three of the five movements were composed by Fauré, and the other two by Messager. It was written for three part female choir, accompanied by organ and a solo violin. In 1906 Fauré returned to the work to fulfill a publishing contract. He replaced the Messager movements with newly composed music of his own. The intimate and expressive Messe has an undeniable charm, and is rarely heard in modern performances.

De l’autre côté du miroir
Espace culturel Saint-Gilles, 562, Rte des Outaouais, Brownsburg-Chatham
The musical experience “On the other side of the mirror”, as imagined and presented by the duo Cordelia, comes to shake up the conventional landmarks of the chamber music concert. Contemplation, humor and rapture are at the rendezvous as the two experienced musicians of this violin-ensemblepiano lead their audience into an innovative musical adventure by highlighting a diverse repertoire from the work of revolutionary composers or politically committed to their time, as well as original compositions by violinist Vanessa Marcoux.
Inspired by the resilience of these artists for whom escape to fabulous musical landscapes was the only possible way out of the realities of their time, Duo Cordelia testifies to the depth of our essential relationship with music. And at times, the repertoire giving way to improvisation, the room unites for a moment in an impetus of shared creation.

Aux deux hémisphères
Espace culturel Saint-Gilles, 562, Rte des Outaouais, Brownsburg
Aux deux hémisphères presents on stage the compositions and works of inspiration from the first album by cellist and composer Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy, with his acolyte, pianist Jean-Michel Dubé.
Presented in an original formula and accessible to all audiences, Aux deux hémisphères really allows you to enter the process of creation of Dominique: not only are on the program original compositions, but also featured works of the repertoire for cello and piano that were sources of inspiration in the writing process of the young composer and cellist.
In both hemispheres, it makes us travel between the torment and passion of post-romantic European composers such as Rachmaninov and Fauré, the heat and fiery rhythms of Argentine composers such as Piazzolla, to finally land here, in Quebec, in this universe inspired and tinged by these two hemispheres.
Lyricism, virtuosity, intensity and discovery: this is what awaits you with Aux deux hémisphères.

Claude Debussy: Images oubliées with Stéphane Tétreault & Olivier Hébert-Bouchard
Théâtre du Lac-Brome, 9, Chemin du Mont-Écho, Knowlton
Reinvented for cello and piano by two artists whose reputation is well known, these forgotten images paint a timeless portrait of this musical legend.
By combining these two instruments, the atmospheres evoked in these pieces are therefore more defined. By transforming the «solo» aspect of these works into a design for two instruments in dialogue, Debussy’s sound language resonates differently, sometimes more intimate, sometimes more grandiose, but always with the intention of creating a strong connection with the public. The evocative power of these compositions is therefore inevitably altered, since they now tell their story but also that of the two musicians who transmit them.
Through this singular and thematic concert, the cellist Stéphane Tétreault and the pianist Olivier Hébert-Bouchard offer you a retrospective all in music on the life of Claude Debussy!
