Informations
With a mission to promote and develop the arts on the Upper North Shore, the Odyssée artistique has created new events. Since 2006, classical music and jazz have taken their place in the region, leaving an exceptional mark on visitors’ memories. The popular spirit and original formats of the Festival intime de musique classique and On JAZZ sous la lune attract a varied audience of all ages. Visitors and musicians alike are charmed by the spectacular scenery, the tourist resources and the warm, enthusiastic welcome from the villagers. They keep coming back, and some artists have even settled in Les Escoumins!
The involvement of its president, directors and employees, all volunteers, is far from weakening. Creativity, innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit are all put into action and succeed. They seize the opportunity to host any quality artistic creation or group. The “Hors Série” evenings also bear witness to this.
By working with various partners in the tourism industry, the Odyssée artistique is keen to showcase the region and share the positive spin-offs of its events, from an economic point of view as well as in terms of visibility at regional, provincial and national level and sustainable development. The community’s spirit of solidarity and mutual aid is deployed with them. Future generations will in turn be able to invest in the mission.

Aux deux hémisphères
Église Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Désir, 300 de la Rivière Street
Presented in an original formula and accessible to all audiences, Aux deux hémisphères really allows to enter the process of creation of Dominique: not only are the program of original compositions, but are also presented flagship works of the repertoire for cello and piano that were sources of inspiration in the writing process of the young composer and cellist.
In both hemispheres we travel between the torment and passion of post-romantic European composers such as Rachmaninov and Fauré, the heat and fiery rhythms of Argentinian composers such as Piazzolla, to finally settle here, in Quebec, in this universe inspired and tinged by these two hemispheres.
Lyricism, virtuosity, intensity and discovery: this is what awaits you with Aux deux hémisphères.

The brain and the music
Église Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Désir, 300 rue de la Rivière, Les Bergeronnes
A sound, a note, a melody and there you go… the brain is buzzing. But why do certain tunes manage to make us cry, give us goose bumps, excite us or make us dance? Why are we touched by Beethoven’s symphonies, Celine Dion’s vocal performances, the frenzied reels of Ti-Jean Carignan or the concerts of Arcade Fire? Of course, it all starts with the ear. The sound waves produced by a piano, flute or violin rush into it and are transformed into nerve impulses to reach various regions of the brain.
With this show, Michel Rochon, musician and seasoned scientific journalist (Radio-Canada’s Découverte et Enquête programs), transports us into the fascinating world of scientific research on the musical brain. Through well-known pieces and improvisations on the piano, the audience is invited to reflect, interact and discover how our brain perceives music.
After this conference concert, you will not be able to hear rock, jazz, classical, opera, traditional, rap or techno in the same way. And there is no doubt: it is music that has made us more human!
