With a mission to promote and develop the arts on the Upper North Shore, the Odyssée artistique has created new events. Since 2006, classical music and jazz have taken their place in the region, leaving an exceptional mark on visitors’ memories. The popular spirit and original formats of the Festival intime de musique classique and On JAZZ sous la lune attract a varied audience of all ages. Visitors and musicians alike are charmed by the spectacular scenery, the tourist resources and the warm, enthusiastic welcome from the villagers. They keep coming back, and some artists have even settled in Les Escoumins!
The involvement of its president, directors and employees, all volunteers, is far from weakening. Creativity, innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit are all put into action and succeed. They seize the opportunity to host any quality artistic creation or group. The “Hors Série” evenings also bear witness to this.
By working with various partners in the tourism industry, the Odyssée artistique is keen to showcase the region and share the positive spin-offs of its events, from an economic point of view as well as in terms of visibility at regional, provincial and national level and sustainable development. The community’s spirit of solidarity and mutual aid is deployed with them. Future generations will in turn be able to invest in the mission.

The Beija-Flor Duo, composed of Marie-Noëlle Choquette on the flute and Charles Hobson on the guitar, will bring us a wave of musical warmth. On the program of the concert “Costas”, works inspired by the Latin countries of the Atlantic coasts, including Havana Street Parade that Roddy Ellias composed specifically for the guest musicians.

Duo Cheng2 presents its “New Worlds” programme. Composed of cellist Bryan Cheng and pianist Silvie Cheng, Duo Cheng stands out for its accomplished musicality and subtle communication with the audience. Their gentle complicity highlights the almost human soul of Bryan’s cello – a Stradivarius “Dubois” cello from 1699 – carried by Silvie’s expressiveness.

The National Youth Choir of Canada, composed of 35 choristers aged 19 to 25 from all provinces, is touring Quebec and will be in Les Bergeronnes in Haute-Côte-Nord on May 10. An exceptional event that only happens once every twenty years. Not to be missed!

Passionate about the music of its time, the Quasar saxophone quartet is dedicated to the creation and promotion of contemporary music. Instrumental music, electronics, improvisation, instrumental theatre, new lutheries; so many avenues to explore in all its richness the universe of sound in the 21st century.

Flö
Centre de découverte du milieu marin, 41 rue des Pilotes, Les Escoumins
Flö is a modern jazz quartet formed in Montreal in 2022 and composed of four emerging Quebec musicians. Guillaume Carpentier (tenor saxophone), Léonie Dubé (piano), Zachary Lalonde (drums) and Benjamin Lavoie-Doyon (bass). The collective offers catchy compositions with strong melodies and mixed influences. If the four musicians. s all have a traditional jazz background, they are not limited to it, flirting mainly with folk, rock and pop. Their music sometimes energetic, sometimes more introspective is characterized by their marriage of acoustic and electric sounds.
