JazzWorks is an Ottawa-based Canadian non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the development of jazz musicianship in players of all ages. To achieve its mandate, JazzWorks provides learning activities, including its flagship program, the annual summer Composers’ Symposium/Practice Retreat and Jazz Camp at CAMMAC. It also offers monthly Jam Sessions, mentored Vocal Open Mics, as well as JazzWorks Presents Concerts and Workshops, and a Jazz in the Schools program. To keep you informed, JazzWorks maintains a calendar of jazz events and publishes a weekly newsletter called Ottawa Jazz Happenings.
Over the past 31 years, JazzWorks has awarded over 80 youth scholarships for its annual summer Jazz Camp. Additionally, it enriches high school music education through its Jazz in the Schools program, giving students free high-quality jazz education with local and renowned visiting professional musician-educators.
