Founded in 2009, Les Concerts de la chapelle Saint-Cyriac offers top-class classical music programming to audiences in Lac-Kénogami and the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. Each year, at least four concerts are presented in the wooden chapel on the shores of the lake.
The reputation of these concerts extends beyond our regional borders, based on the testimonials of several musicians from outside the region who have been invited to perform there. Among other things, they have praised the exceptional sound quality of the building, the intensity with which the audience listens and the warmth of the welcome they receive. The chapel can accommodate between 150 and 225 people. To date, more than fifty concerts have been presented in the chapel.
These exceptional concerts are produced by a group of committed and experienced volunteers. The profits generated by this non-profit organisation are used to safeguard and restore the Saint-Cyriac chapel, an important part of the region’s built heritage.

Chapelle Saint-Cyriac, 5618 rue de la Chapelle, Lac-Kénogami
Grounds of Memory, composed for Peyee Chen, the Dedalus ensemble and the Bozzini Quartet, is based on texts by Emily Dickinson, including her recently published «envelope poems». This book, The Gorgeous Nothing, includes manuscript fragments, brief thoughts, sketches of poems written by hand on used envelopes specially prepared for this, made of scattered words, word clouds, first verses of poems.
This piece is the third part of a trilogy. The first and second parts, also composed for soprano and ensemble, are based on texts by Gustave Roud, Bai Juyi (772-846) and texts written by Jürg Frey. This third piece, for large ensemble, concludes this cycle. The selection of texts and poems touches on an existential sensitivity and evokes the vision of a path that does not end.
